The funeral prayer of former RJD MP late Mohammad Shahabuddin being performed at Delhi Gate Qabristan near ITO, Delhi on Monday.
This comes at a time the veteran Bihar leader’s family and fellow politicians repeatedly urged the authorities to handover his body to family for bury it in his hometown Siwan in Bihar. However, the officials denied family’s request citing COVID-19 protocols.
Shahabuddin, one of the most popular politicians of Bihar, passed away on Saturday battling Covid-19 in Delhi.
His family also alleged that Shahabuddin was lodged in the high-risk ward in Tihar Jail where he was sharing his cell with an inmate who had tested positive for COVID-19.
Shahabuddin was in Tihar Jail and was serving a life sentence for murder.
The 54 year old politician was former Member of Parliament from the Siwan constituency in Bihar and was a former member of the National Executive Committees of the Janata Dal and the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
