India-Pak match: Muslim scrap dealer’s shop bulldozed over allegations of ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan

Maharashtra’s Malvan Municipal Council administration on Monday demolished a Muslim man’s scrap shop, a day after locals accused him of raising the ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ slogan during the India vs Pakistan Champions Trophy match after Rohit Sharma lost his wicket.

According to reports, the scrap dealer, based in the Adwan area, allegedly shouted the slogan after Rohit Sharma’s dismissal during the match on Sunday. The two were detained by locals and immediately handed over to the police.

On Monday morning, Hindutva organizations staged a rally demanding action against “illegal Bangladeshi and migrant settlers” in the town.

The demolition was initiated after Shiv Sena leader and Sindhudurg MLA Nilesh Rane filed a complaint with the Malvan Municipal Corporation regarding the owner’s actions. Following this, civic officials deployed a JCB machine to demolish the shop.

Nilesh Rane, sharing visuals of the bulldozer action against the shop, said on X, “In Malvan, a Muslim outsider scrap dealer raised anti-India slogans after the India-Pakistan match yesterday. As a response, we will definitely drive this outsider scoundrel out of the district, but before that, we immediately destroyed his scrap business. Thanks to the Malvan Municipal Council administration and police administration for taking prompt action.”

Meanwhile, the Malvan Lawyers Bar Association has decided not to provide legal representation to the accused Muslims in the incident.
