India’s Covid-19 tally surges past 25 million mark

India’s total COVID-19 cases surged past the 25 million mark, boosted by 263,533 new infections over the last 24 hours.

India reported its highest single-day death count on Tuesday as it registered 4,329 new fatalities. With this, the toll climbed to 2,78,719 since the pandemic first broke out in January 2020.

India becomes the world’s second nation, after the United States, to pass the grim milestone. 

There are 33,53,765 active cases and 2,15,96,512 patients have recovered so far, according to health ministry data.

COVID-19 has infected more than 164 million people and claimed at least 3.4 million lives globally.
