Jharkhand Mukti Morcha passes resolution rejecting CAA, UCC, NRC in Jharkhand

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), during its 46th foundation day celebrations at Gandhi Maidan in Dumka on Sunday night, passed a 50-point resolution strongly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), Uniform Civil Code (UCC), and National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Jharkhand.

The party declared that these policies should be entirely rejected in the state.

Alongside this, JMM emphasized the need for strict enforcement of the Chotanagpur Tenancy (CNT) Act and Santal Pargana Tenancy (SPT) Act to safeguard tribal land rights. The party also demanded that the central government clear ₹1.36 lakh crore in pending dues to the state.

Addressing a massive gathering, Chief Minister Hemant Soren criticized the Union government, accusing it of neglecting Jharkhand in the recent budget. He pointed out that despite being rich in mineral resources and making a significant contribution to the national exchequer, the state continues to face developmental challenges. He stressed the need for fair treatment of all states, particularly those struggling with economic disparities.

Soren slammed the budget for favoring the wealthy while failing to provide relief from inflation and tax burdens on common people. He dismissed the Centre’s new initiative, GYAN (Garib, Yuva, Annadata, Nari), as a loan-driven approach rather than direct financial support.

Highlighting Jharkhand’s welfare policies, he noted that the state was the first to introduce a ₹2,500 monthly financial aid scheme for women. Reinforcing JMM’s commitment to social justice and economic equality, he reiterated the party’s stand against policies that threaten the rights of marginalized communities.
