J&K army camp attack: 3 soldiers, 2 militants killed

Three Army personnel and two militants lost their lives in the exchange of fire in the border district of Rajouri in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday morning.

The militants were trying to scale the fence of the camp when an army sentry spotted them and opened fire, leading to a gunfight, according to officials.

Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, Mukesh Singh said that “someone tried to cross the fence of the Army camp at Pargal in Darhal area of Rajouri.” Following an exchange of fire, the two militants were killed, he added.

The attack comes ahead of Independence Day celebrations and the police and security forces are already on high alert owing to it.

Additional reinforcements have been rushed to the location which is 6 km from Darhal Police station.

Two soldiers were also injured in the attack.

Police said the Lashkar-e-Toiba terror group is behind the attack.
