Madhya Pradesh panchayat minister Mahendra Singh Sisodia has triggered controversy by warning Congress workers that if they do not join the BJP, then “Mama’s (chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan) bulldozers are ready”.
A video of the inflammatory speech went viral on Thursday night. Sisodia had quit Congress with Jyotiraditya Scindia in March 2020 and followed him into the BJP.
The video is from a public meeting in Ruthiyai town, near Raghogarh in Guna district, where the minister was campaigning on Wednesday for the urban civic polls.
“Move over to this side. In 2023 [when Assembly polls are scheduled in the state] too, the BJP will form a government in Madhya Pradesh…Mama’s bulldozer is ready,“ Sisodia said according to PTI.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is popularly known as “mama”, or maternal uncle.
BJP governments in Madhya Pradesh and other states have been increasingly dispensing “bulldozer justice” by conducting demolition drives under the guise of removing alleged encroachments. Most of these drives were targeted at properties owned by Muslims.
