A video of Karnataka minister and BJP leader V Somanna slapping a woman in Chamarajanagar district during a public event to distribute land title deeds is being widely shared on social media.
The incident happened on Saturday.
Housing Minister V Somanna was attending the event at the Hangala village in the Gundlupet taluk.
The woman identified as Kempamma, came to the venue and claimed the selection process for beneficiaries was rigged.
In the video, the minister is seen slapping her as the woman goes close to the minister questioning the decision to distribute the title deeds. The cops who were at the spot can then be seen dragging her down from the dais.
In a tweet, AICC general secretary in charge of Karnataka Randeep Singh Surjewala said, “The New Gem of Bommai Govt…. BJP Minister slaps a hapless women. She falls on the ground. Instead of apologising for the shameless act, Minister V. Somanna makes Police throw her out. This is the unbridled arrogance of BJP. Dismiss Minister V Somanna.”
