Members of Hindutva group have set fire to Christian religious books and attacked priests in the Kolar region in Karnataka on Sunday.
No arrest has been made in the case, NDTV reported.
Priests were conducting a prayer meet at a local house when Hindutva groups barged into the house, according to journalist Imran Khan.
A police officer told NDTV that the police have “warned the Christian community to not create any communal disharmony by going door-to-door and preaching.”
“Both parties, the right-wing and the Christian community members have settled the matter amicably,” the officer said on condition of anonymity.
The latest incident is the 38th attack on the religious minorities in Karnataka in the last 12 months.
Karnataka has seen a rise in attacks against Christians in October and November after the governing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) proposed an anti-conversion law in the state.
While 27 such attacks took place during the first 272 days of this year, seven incidents took place between October and mid-November alone, according to a fact-finding report.
Today, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai said the bill on forcible religious conversion will be up for discussion in the Winter Session of the state assembly.
