KCR once again skipped receiving PM at airport, received Yashwant Sinha instead

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) once again skipped receiving Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Hyderabad airport, the third time in six months.

Meanwhile, KCR and his cabinet ministers went to the Begumpet airport just a few hours before the PM’s arrival to receive Yashwant Sinha, the opposition’s Presidential candidate.

The PM arrived in Hyderabad to attend the BJP’s National Executive meeting, and KCR was conspicuous by his absence.

KCR has announced his support to Sinha in the upcoming presidential polls slated to be held on 18 July.

At a public meeting with Yashwant Sinha, KCR launched a fresh attack on the PM and said, “You have made several promises before winning, we want to know if even one of them was fulfilled.”

He was speaking in Hindi in a bid to appeal to the wider audience.

Later in his address, Yashwanth Sinha said the Presidential polls were not between two individuals, but it was between two ideologies. He maintained that the fight against the dictatorial policies of Modi government would continue even after the Presidential polls and all opposition parties would launch a united fight to protect the democracy in India.

Earlier in the day,Telangana Chief Minister and TRS party chief K Chandrashekar Rao on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of killing democracy and the federal system.

Addressing a meeting organised by the TRS party, Rao said, “You (Modi) are killing democracy and federal system every day, you are bringing down the government which doesn’t listen to you and oppressing voice that doesn’t listen to you.” The Chief Minister further said PM Modi’s dictatorship is increasing day by day which is a threat to the nation. Rao said the political changes will happen as no one is permanent.

KCR had earlier in May flown to Bengaluru when PM Modi visited the state. In February this year, the CM remained absent during the PM’s visit to Hyderabad.
