A member of the Army rescue team reached the spot where Cherattil Babu, 23, had been trapped for more than 46 hours and gave him food and water.

Babu, was brought to the top of the hill by around 10.15 am, two days after he had gone up while exploring the rocky hill along with two other friends.

While descending, he slipped and fell into a deep gorge, estimated to be at least 200 ft lower than the summit. He injured his leg in the process. His friends, who failed to rescue him themselves, reached the base of the hill and informed authorities following which efforts began to rescue him.

Visuals on local television channels showed that Babu was sitting in a small recess on the mountain face.

Reports say Babu’s health parameters are good. Babu’s mother and brother were camping near base camp.
