Lynching victim Afrazul’s daughter passes West Bengal Board of Secondary Education Exam

Afrazul’s younger daughter, Habiba Khatun, has passed the Madhyamik examination. Appearing for her exam from Jalalpur High School, she scored 203 marks in total. Gulbahar Bibi, her mother, is happy with her success.

Afrazul Khan was a resident of Jalalpur, Kaliachak in Malda district. In 2017, he was lynched and burned to death in Rajsamand, Rajasthan, where he worked as a migrant labourer. The video of his murder became viral on social media and received nation-wide condemnation.

Afrazul Khan was hacked and burnt to death by Shambhulal Regar, a local marble trader and a Sangh Parivar worker. Afrazul’s family has not received any justice.

Even though Habiba has tried to forget how her father was killed, the memory of it still makes her wary. She appeared for the Madhyamik examination while she grieved for her father.

Just before the results of the general elections are declared, Habiba expresses satisfaction with her own results, and says that she studied with difficulty. Even her mother says that though it was not easy for her daughter to prepare for the Madhyamik exam, she is happy that she passed it.
