Maharashtra polls: NDA crosses majority mark, Shiv Sena with ‘Thackeray for CM’ card

The ruling BJP-Shiv Sena alliance on Thursday looked on course to retaining power in Maharashtra as per early trends of counting of votes available so far.

Of the trends available so far, BJP is leading in 98 seats, while alliance partner Shiv Sena is ahead in 60. Opposition Congress is ahead in 40 seats, while NCP is leading in 53. AIMIM is leading in two seats. VBA, is leading in one seat.

Shiv Sena has set alliance terms of sorts with its ‘Aaditya Thackeray for CM’ pitch, reports said. The Thackeray scion, first in his family to contest elections, is leading in Worli while CM Devendra Fadnavis has survived a brief scare to return in leading position in Nagpur South West.
