Mayawati, Priyanka Gandhi; Two Buddhist women to fight Modi and Yogi

Priyanka Gandhi’s entry to politics is considered as a master stroke against BJP in forthcoming General Election 2019. Priyanka who was hesitant in involving in politics directly has finally given the responsibility as the General Secretary of All India Congress Committee in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

It is clear that Priyanka is assigned to compete with strong Hindutva icons in eastern U.P like PM Narendra Modi and  UP CM Yogi Adithyanath. After the formation of BSP-SP alliance BSP supremo  Mayawati   has once again become the center of attraction in national politics. Many political analysts has also predicted  Mayawati   as the future Prime Minister of India.

These two women politicians from U.P who will control UP politics in 2019 elections have an interesting similarity. Both of them  have denounced Hinduism and embraced Buddhism.

Earlier in 2006 at the time of funeral of BSP founder Kanshiram, Mayawati has announced that  both she and Kanshiram were practicing Buddhism. She also said that once she becomes Prime Minister of India she will publicly acknowledge her belief in Buddhism.

Priyanka Gandhi is a practitioner of Buddhism for many years with SN Goenka as her spiritual guide. Also Priyanka holds a masters degree in Buddhist studies.

Priyanka has been practicing ‘Vipassana’ for the past 14 years
