Maulana Kalbe Sadiq, the vice-chairman of the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), passed away on Tuesday at 82.
The Shia scholar and educationalist breathed his last at ERA’s Lucknow Medical College and Hospital. He was suffering from pneumonia and was admitted to the the hospital over a month ago.
Sadiq funded the Tauheedul Muslimeen Trust in 1984 with an aim to provide education to thousands of underprivileged children, especially girls.
“This is a huge loss to not only the Shia community but to humanity. We are bereaved today,” said historian Rana Safvi.
