Naik suicide case: Mumbai police issues summons to Republic TV CFO

Republic Media Network Chief Financial Officer (CFO) S Sundaram has been issued summons by the Raigad police in 2018 suicide case of interior decorator Anvay Naik and his mother.

According to the Indian Express, a crime branch officer said that during questioning, key accused Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami had said that making payments on behalf of the company was the job of the CFO.

Goswami, along with co-accused Feroz Shaikh and Nitesh Sarda, were granted interim bail in the case by the Supreme Court on Wednesday.

The case involves the suicide deaths of Anvay Naik, a Mumbai-based interior designer, and his mother Kumud Naik, on 5 May 2018. A one-page suicide note named Goswami, Sarda of Smartworks and Shaikh of IcastX/Skimedia, for failing to pay dues of Rs 83 lakh, Rs 55 lakh and Rs 4 crore, respectively, to Anvay Naik’s company, Concorde Designs Private Limited.

Police sources also said a few more persons will be issued summons in the coming days.
