Narendra Modi takes oath as Prime Minister of India for third time

With over 8,000 guests at the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Narendra Modi took oath as the Prime Minister for the third time.

The Hindu nationalist politician has become the Prime Minister of India for the third consecutive time, equalling a feat that only Jawaharlal Nehru achieved in the past.

Senior BJP leaders Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, J P Nadda, Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Nirmala Sitharaman have also taken oath as cabinet ministers in the new government.

The 72-member Union Council of Ministers which was administered the oath of office by President Droupadi Murmu included 30 Cabinet Ministers and 5 Ministers of State (independent charge).

Along with PM Modi, 71 ministers took oath out of which 60 are BJP leaders, two each from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal United (JDU), and one each from the Janata Dal (Secular), Hindustani Awam Morcha (HAM), Shiv Sena (SHS), Apna Dal, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Lok Janshakti Party (LJP-Ramvilas Paswan), and Republican Party of India (RPI).
