Punjab Police on Monday said it has invoked the draconian National Security Act (NSA) on five members of Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh’s ‘Waris Punjab De.’
Four of the booked have already been sent to Dibrugarh and the fifth — Amritpal Singh’s uncle Harjit Singh — is being taken to Dibrugarh.
Punjab Inspector General of Police Sukhchain Singh Gill shared the news during a press briefing today noon.
The Punjab police today said that Amritpal Singh is still on the run and efforts are on to nab him and 114 persons have been arrested in the related case.
The Punjab government has once again extended the suspension of Internet services in the state for another 24 hours, till Tuesday noon.
Meanwhile, many human rights groups and activists have been raising their concerns over the human rights violations during the government crackdown.
