Pondicherry University students call for protests against fee hike

Pondicherry University students are set to call out for a strike,  as the administration and Vice Chancellor practice silence over the fee hike issue.

The new prospectus for the year 2019-2020 academic year was updated last week with the new fees list for all the courses.

The university has also introduced a self financing course in the MBA department for which a total of 3,27,900/ is true fee for two years.  The highest hike is for MCA and the increase is at a percentage of 225%.

Various students political organisation including the Ambedkar Students Association, Muslim Students Federation, Students Federation of India, National Students Union (I), Students Islamic Organisation of India and APSF along with the students council have come together under Joint Action Committee with a demand to reduce the fee rise.

We must resist such attempts to deny us what is rightfully ours- Affordable, accessible, equal education for all.

says the pamphlet by JAC

JAC initially wrote in a letter demanding the revoke of MBA fee hike, Hostel facilities for SC/ST students of Pondicherry residence and few other demands.

Raising the slogan “Affordable, Accessible, Equal Education for all”, the students will launch a strike if their demands are not met, JAC members said.
