Powerful earthquake jolts Afghanistan, Pakistan, India

A powerful earthquake was felt in parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India on Tuesday night, alarming hundreds of people to evacuate their homes due to tremors.

An earthquake of 6.6 on the Richter Scale hit 133km SSE of Fayzabad, Afghanistan today at 10:17 pm IST, National Centre for Seismology confirmed. Initial reports suggest the tremors were felt in India, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, China, Afghanistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

There were no reports of casualties.

Apart from New Delhi, tremors were felt in Punjab, Rajasthan’s Jaipur and Kashmir, according to tweets from several reporters.

Several videos have surfaced showing people assembled outside the building due to the shaking.
