Protest for Saibaba; Delhi University students, professors beaten, detained

Students and professors of Delhi University, who were protesting against the Supreme Court of India’s stay on Bombay High Court ordered release of professor and human rights defender GN Saibaba on Saturday were manhandled and detained by the Delhi Police.

Students were taken to Burari and Morris Nagar Police stations on Saturday afternoon following the peaceful protests, they student leaders said to Maktoob.

“Just as students gathered for the public meeting University guards and Delhi police officers started engaging in violent altercation with them,” alleged AISA Delhi University unit.

“A member of AISA was manhandled to the extent that his arm was dislocated,” All India Students Association National General Secretary, Prasenjeet, spoke to The Quint.
