‘Raped by Thakurs, murdered by system.’ Ambedkar Students’ Association protests over Hathras brutality

In Hyderabad University, Ambedkar Students’ Association went on a protest on Wednesday in front of the Rohith Vemula statue against the rape and murder of the 19-year-old Dalit woman in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh. The Dalit woman was left with her legs paralysed fully and hands partially after the assault by upper-caste Hindu men on September 14. After her condition deteriorated, she was referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital where she breathed her last on Tuesday.

“Rohith Vemula was buried over night. Manisha Valmiki was burnt over night. Democracy is being buried everyday.”

“Last night, Indian democracy was burned. Last night, social justice was burned. Last night, Manisha Valmiki was burned.”

“Raped by Thakurs, murdered by system, burnt by police/law.”

“Down down Yogi’s Brahmanical Rama Rajya.”

“Say no rape culture. Smash Brahmanical patriarcy.”

“Dalit women are not the property of upper-caste men.”
