The entire opposition briefly walked out of the Lok Sabha during Question Hour on Tuesday over the recent police violence in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, which resulted in the killing of six Muslims.
Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav raised the issue but was asked to wait for the Zero Hour, prompting protests.
“This is a well-planned conspiracy to shoot down the harmony of the district,” Yadav alleges.
Yadav further stated that the Sambhal mosque survey and the subsequent violence were carried out in a bid to distract from inconsistencies during the Uttar Pradesh bypoll.
He also narrated how the Sambhal mosque survey and violence played out and alleged that the police fired upon protestors.
At least six Muslim youths were killed in Sambhal after Uttar Pradesh Police allegedly opened fire on local Muslims who protested against the survey of mosque and the presence of a Hindutva group accompanying the survey team on 24 November.
While Locals, journalists, mosque authorities, and opposition leaders say the police killings were pre-planned and orchestrated, District Magistrate Chirag Goyal claimed that the six men were killed by gunfire, stating that they were shot by fellow protesters.
