Sameer Wankhede demanded Rs 25 crore from SRK’s family: CBI’s FIR

The Central Bureau of Investigation has claimed in the first information report that former Narcotics Control Bureau officer Sameer Wankhede’s actions, which were marked by significant anomalies, enabled an independent witness to conspire towards extorting Rs 25 crore from Aryan Khan’s family in 2021.

Wankhede took charge of the inquiry in the Cordelia cruise ship case of 2021, involving the arrest of Aryan Khan, son of Shah Rukh Khan, along with his friend Arbaaz Merchant, model Munmum Dhamecha, and five others by the Narcotics Control Bureau.

On 12 May, the CBI booked the former Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau in Mumbai, Wankhede, along with four others. The FIR names two NCB staffs – Vishwa Vijay Singh and Ashish Ranjan – and independent witness KP Gosavi and his aide Sanvile D’Souza.

In an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), it is claimed that former Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede and his team engaged in misconduct during the investigation of the Cordelia cruise ship case in 2021. The FIR alleges that Wankhede’s team tampered with the original raid information report and failed to document the search of certain individuals. Additionally, some suspects were reportedly allowed to leave without proper investigation.

According to the CBI, Wankhede’s actions facilitated a conspiracy involving individuals such as Gosavi and D’Souza, who conspired to extort Rs 25 crore from Aryan Khan’s family by threatening to implicate him in a drug possession case.

The FIR further reveals that during the seizure and arrests on the Cordelia Cruise ship on October 2, 2021, Gosavi and Prabhakar Sail were presented as independent witnesses. The accused individuals in the case were transported to the NCB office in Gosavi’s private vehicle, as stated by the CBI.

The FIR alleges that Wankhede deliberately allowed Gosavi to accompany the accused persons, creating the impression that he was an NCB staff member. Furthermore, against protocol, Gosavi was permitted to be present at the NCB office during the investigation of the accused individuals, as per the CBI’s allegations.

While at the office, Gosavi purportedly took photographs with Aryan Khan and recorded his voice note. Notably, Gosavi himself is facing cheating charges filed by the Pune Police.

“It was this position that allowed Gosavi and D’Souza amongst others to enter into conspiracy to extort an amount of Rs 25 crore from the family members of the alleged accused, Aryan Khan by threatening them of the accusation of offences of possession of narcotics substances,” read the FIR.
