
Coke Studio is set to return to audiences in India with the launch of Coke Studio Tamil.
The eight episode season—featuring 25 musicians, including A R Rahman’s daughter Khatija Rahman, among the line-up of top artists from the region.
Coke Studio Tamil’s season one will be produced by hip-hop artist Arivu, and music producer Sean Roldan. The artists include Pushpavanam Kuppusamy, Gaana Ulaganathan, Carnatic vocalist Sanjay Subramanyan, playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada, singer Benny Dayal, Jhanu & the band, OfRo, and Khatija Rahman among several others.
“The Coke Studio Tamil platform will enable us to celebrate the glorious diversity of Tamil music with the 80 million Tamil-speaking population worldwide. We are excited to partner with various talented Tamil artists and provide them with a global platform to showcase their breakthrough talent,” Arnab Roy, Vice-President, Marketing, Coca-Cola India and South West Asia, told businessline.
Coke Studio is the flagship music property backed by beverage giant Coca-Cola. Last year, it launched Coke Studio Bangla (Bangladesh) drawing artists from Bangladesh and West Bengal.
It also has plans to extend the property to other Indian languages in the next 3-4 years.
