Kerala announces special package for kids who lost parents to COVID-19

As many as 577 children across the country were orphaned after their parents passed away due to Covid-19

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Thursday announced special package for children who lost both parents due to COVID-19. Kerala government will give 3 lakhs for the children as a lump sum and bear the cost of their education until graduation.

Vijayan, in his press meet, also declared that they will be given 2000 rupees per month till the age of 18 years. Internet lauded the new package immediately.

Several other state governments have announced financial aid, as well as, educational support for children whose parents died due to COVID-19.

Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani, on Wednesday said that as many as 577 children across the country were orphaned after their parents passed away due to Covid-19.

Kerala recorded 24,166 new COVID-19 caseloads on Thursday taking the total caseload to 24,18,529, with 8,063 death. .

The state is under strict measures to curb the spread of the virus. CM expressed concerns about the high death rate and suggested that it will take four weeks to see a decrease the fatalities rate.
