More than a thousand students, artists and film workers protested in Kerala’s Kozhikode beach on Thursday against Citizenship Amendment Act and saffron politics of exclusion.
At Kozhikode beach, protesters sang songs including the anti-fascist anthem Bella Ciao, painted on canvases and faces.
The protest was organized by the Kozhikode based artists collective under the title of ‘Art Attack, art and music against hate’.
A tableau with the model of Auschwitz Nazi Jail was also used by protesters. Demonstrators break and burnt the Jail depicting the detention camps for Muslim during the protest
Protesters yelled chants against Islamophobia throughout the demonstration.
Film directors Muhsin Parari, Zakariya Muhammed and Ashraf Hamza, script writer Harshad and artist Anees Nadodi joined protesters and asked people to unite against any hatred and discriminatory laws by Narendra Modi led government.
Student activists from Jamia Millia Islamia and Aligarh Muslim University, the epicenters of CAA protests joined the rally.
The protest gathering also saw cultural performances. Singers Shahabaz Aman, Sameer Binsi, Imam Majboor, Ayisha Abdulbasit, rapper Haris Saleem and members from the Mefil-e-Sama, a Sufi music band performed followed by performances by students and independent artists.
