Tamilnadu CM failed to protect people affected by lockdown: M K Stalin

The government in Tamil Nadu has wasted 90 days of the continuing lockdown without controlling the spread of COVID-19, DMK president M K Stalin said on Wednesday.

“The AIDMK government must act at least now,” Stalin said in a statement.

“At present, Tamil Nadu people are in their golden hour, as doctors tell about the time for saving critical patients. So the chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami must act at least now and take proper steps to control coronavirus,” the leader of opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly said.

Stalin said Chennai once used to be a place for people to settle as it provided livelihood to them and but now people leaving the city with their families as they are not able to pay rent.

“The cost of living is also increasing. Each day, fuel prices are increasing without any control. Is it not the responsibility of the chief minister to stop the exodus?” he added.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu recorded 2,516 positive cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the state tally to 64,603.
