A massive protest was held in Telangana’s Warangal on Sunday against the Union government’s new waqf law, the Waqf Amendment Act 2025.
The protest, titled “Save Waqf, Save Constitution,” took place at the Islamia College ground in Warangal and was organised by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB).
Over 10,000 protesters gathered at the demonstration, which was presided over by Maulana Khalid Saifullah Rahmani, president of AIMPLB.
Telangana Minister Konda Surekha, former MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao, Hyderabad MP and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi, RJD MP Manoj Jha, Azad Samaj Party–Kanshi Ram chief and MP Chandrashekhar Azad, and MLA Naini Rajender Reddy were among the guests.
“…This law (Waqf Law) has not been made in the interest of Muslims. It has been created to seize Muslim Waqf properties. The Waqf Board will not benefit from this in any way,” said Owaisi MP.
He added: “From where do Muslims get the documents of historical waqf properties that has been preserved for centuries? The government has enacted a controversial Black law that reflects a misuse of numerical power.”
Muslim leaders Maulana Mohammed Ahsan Al Hamoomi Nizami Quadri, Dr. Mohammed Khalid Mubashir-uz-Zafar, Maulana Mohammed Shafeeq Aslam, Maulana Hyder Anisar Hussain, Maulana Muhammed Ba Nayeem, Maulana Muhammed Gayas Ahmed Rashadi, Mufti Mahmood Zubair Qasmi, Maulana Muhammed Omer Abideen Qasmi Madani, Mohammed Sadiq Ahmed, and Dr. Talha Mannan also addressed the gathering.
