Three Adivasi minor children of the Neikuppa tribal colony in Kerala’s hill district of Wayanad were allegedly beaten up by their neighbor for entering his paddy field. The children aged six and seven were beaten and injured by the neighbor accusing them that the kids destroyed his field.

The incident occurred on August 15.

The relative who watched the incident said that Radhakrishnan, the owner of the place, had beaten up the children on the charge that they had stepped into the field prepared for paddy cultivation. Children were beaten while they were playing catching fish in a nearby stream, according to MediaOne TV.

All the three children who were hit suffered injuries on their legs and abdomen.

A six-year-old boy with a congenital valve defect who underwent bypass surgery twice was the most injured because he couldn’t run fast, he was continuously beaten up.

The incident came to light when the children sought treatment at a nearby medical facility. Their condition is not serious, police said.

The accused has been booked under SC/ST Atrocities Act and Section 324 of IPC (Voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).

Radhakrishnan, who is in his 40s, was arrested by the police.
