Turkey quake: Body of missing Indian man found under debris

The body of an Indian businessman identified as Vijay Kumar who had gone missing following the earthquakes in Turkey has been found from under the debris of a hotel in Malatya town, the Indian Embassy said on Saturday.

Kumar was on business trip to Malatya.

“We inform with sorrow that the mortal remains of Shri Vijay Kumar, an Indian national missing in Turkiye since February 6 earthquake, have been found and identified among the debris of a hotel in Malatya, where he was on a business trip,” the embassy tweeted.

He was a resident of Uttarakhand’s Pauri district.

Kumar’s face was badly crushed but he identified due to his tatoo of “Om” on one of his hands, his family said quoting Indian embassy officials, reported PTI.

The earthquake devastated Türkiye and Syria and killed more than 28,000.
