
A 13-year-old Muslim boy was reportedly stabbed by three minors from his locality for refusing to chant “Jai Shri Ram”. The incident that took place late Thursday night in Sarsaul, under the Maharajpur police station area of Uttar Pradesh’s Kanpur.
According to the complaint, the boy, on his way to a bus stop near his home, was allegedly intercepted by the three accused minors, who were reportedly accompanied by two others. The group demanded that the boy bow down and touch their feet.
When the boy refused to comply, they allegedly insisted that he chant “Jai Shri Ram.” Upon his refusal to follow through with their demands, the situation escalated violently.
According to the boy, one of the accused broke a bottle and used the sharp glass to stab him in the left leg.Bleeding from the wound, the boy managed to return home, where he informed his family about the incident.
The boy’s grandfather then filed a complaint at the Maharajpur police station, prompting the authorities to register a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In his statement, the boy revealed that he had frequently been subjected to similar hate-driven incidents in the locality.
Local police have confirmed that an investigation is underway.
