Video | Afreen Fatima on demolition of her house and incarceration of her father

Javed Mohammed, a Muslim activist and Welfare Party of India leader from Allahabad, a few weeks ago, filed a complaint against an anti-Muslim hate speech event, Dharma Sansad that took place in the city.

His daughter, a prominent Muslim student activist Afreen Fatima believes that has led to the political vendetta against him. He is now jailed by Uttar Pradesh police for allegedly being the “mastermind” of a protest against the derogatory comments on prophet Muhammed by BJP leaders in the city on 10 June.

Javed’s house was demolished after his arrest, claiming that the house was an “illegal construction”.

Speaking to Maktoob, Afreen Fatima decodes what had happened to her family and how it has become a disturbing pattern for Muslims in India.
