“We don’t want even a single Muslim vote,”says former Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa

BJP senior leader and former Karnataka minister KS Eshwarappa said that his party doesn’t want “even a single Muslim vote” in the upcoming state polls.

He was speaking about religious conversion at a Veerashaiva-Lingayat meeting in Shivamogga yesterday, news agency ANI reported.

“When it comes to caste, we should stay united. Please don’t try to break us. They say there are around 50-55 thousand Muslim votes here. We don’t even want a single vote of them,” the Hindutva politician said.

“We don’t allow making Hindus inferior and Muslims superior. But, some nationalist Muslims will definitely vote for the BJP. Let those anti-nationals who identify themselves with Congress continue to do so. All have failed in dividing Hindus in the name of caste,” the senior BJP leader was quoted as saying by TNIE.

Eshwarappa who has been accused of hate speech and anti-Muslim campaigns during his tenure was the Minister for Rural Development and Panchayat Raj in the Government of Karnataka and is the MLA of the Shimoga assembly constituency.

He was forced to resign from the ministry days after he was named as an accused in a case registered over a contractor Santosh Patil’s death.
