50-year-old Muslim man sent to jail for asking youth to oppose hate-monger T Raja Singh’s rally

Despite multiple hate speech cases against him in Maharashtra, Raja Singh has not been arrested by the police yet. In August, the BJP suspended him after a public outcry over his derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad.

A 50-year-old Muslim man was arrested by the Maharashtra Police on Thursday in Nanded district as cops accusing him of inciting the youth to oppose a rally of hate speech peddler and Telangana MLA T Raja Singh.

Suleman Ahmed Shaikh has been sent to jail for 14 days by a local court, PTI reported.

According to a Maharashtra Police official, on March 24th, Shaikh held a meeting in the city of Biloli in Nanded district where he encouraged young members of the Muslim community to protest against Singh’s rally. Cops claimed that it could spark tension in the region.

Despite multiple hate speech cases against him in Maharashtra, Raja Singh has not been arrested by the police yet. In August, the BJP suspended him after a public outcry over his derogatory comments about Prophet Muhammad.

After being arrested and put under preventive detention for his derogatory remarks about the Prophet, he was released in November by the Telangana High Court on the condition that he refrain from making provocative speeches. However, he has continued to deliver genocidal speeches at rallies organized by the Sakal Hindu Samaj, a coalition of various Hindutva groups in Maharashtra.

During a rally, the lawmaker urged Hindus to take up arms if an anti-conversion law was not implemented in Maharashtra. Recently, during the Hindu festival of Ram Navami, which was marred by violence in several states, videos of Singh delivering a hate speech in front of a mosque in Hyderabad went viral on social media.
