Golf legend Tiger Woods is hospitalized after car crash

Golf legend Tiger Woods had suffered multiple “open fractures” to lower right leg after going through a car crash late night on Tuesday, reported news agency AP.

A rod was placed in tibia, while screws and pins were placed in ankle, the surgeon said.

The 45-year-old American, among the world’s most famous athletes for the past quarter-century, underwent surgery for multiple leg injuries following the early morning wreck near Los Angeles, AFP reported.

Woods, a 15-time major champion who shares with Sam Snead the PGA Tour record of 82 career victories, has been recovering from December 23 surgery on his lower back. It was his fifth back surgery and first since his lower spine was fused in April 2017, allowing him to stage a remarkable comeback that culminated with his fifth Masters title in 2019.

Athletes and others from Mike Tyson and Magic Johnson to former Presidents Donald Trump and Barack Obama offered hopes that Woods would make a quick recovery.
