Iniesta stayed back in Camp Nou until 1:30 am; Internet gets emotional for the veteran star

In the empty Camp Nou, Andres Stayed back until late, sitting in the center circle of the turf was it all started 17 years ago.  The images of Iniesta alone in the stadium are tearing apart every football fan. In the last game of the season, Barca won against Real Sociedad (1-0) but after the game, they lost their captain, Don Andres Iniesta.

In the 82nd minute of the game, he broke every Catalan’s heart as he passed on the captain armband to Messi, eyes filled, and walked out of the turf for the final time in Barca jersey after 674 appearances as the savior of his side.

He started playing as a boy in La Masia, youth academy of FCB. After two decades, Andres is claimed as one of the best midfielders in Spanish football and magician of Barca. He won 32 trophies with Barcelona and scored sensational and crucial goals which brought titles and glory to the club. His partnership with Xavi is considered as the most beautiful game strategy along with Messi and Busquets.

“I will move on and carry you all in my heart forever,” said Iniesta in his farewell speech. “It’s been a wonderful 22 years, full of pride and it’s been a pleasure to represent the club. I thank you all for the love and respect since I arrived as a child, I now leave as a man.”

Replacing Iniesta will be a hard task for Ernesto as none can do it as he did in the midfield. Iniesta always performed with quality and stability. His contribution was crucial in Barca’s run for the title of Spanish football. The genius of football, who hasn’t decided his future plans, is bided by top English and Chinese club.

Iniesta received a memorable farewell from the team and fans including a personal letter from Xavi who glorified his partner’s talents and irreplaceable role in Spanish football. Barcelona manager Ernesto Valverde said that Andres was an unrepeatable, historic player and that he will be talked for long in the future.
