Manchester City wins UEFA Champions League, seals Treble

UEFA Champions League/Twitter

English football club Manchester City won the UEFA Champions League in Istanbul, beating Italian side Inter Milan with a second-half goal. With the biggest trophy in European club football, City completes the treble —  The Premier League title, FA Cup and the UCL title.

Defensive midfielder Rodri’s goal won the game for Pep Guardiola’s side in a comparatively less spectacular game. Inter almost levelled when a point-blank header by Romelu Lukaku was saved by City’s goalie Ederson.

Pep Guardiola has now won the Champions League three times and took his trophy count with City to 12.

Manchester City have never won the Champions League title before. In fact, they’ve only made it to the final once before, ultimately losing to fellow EPL side Chelsea in 2021.
