The two-year-old Layla Khateeb has become the 16th victim of Israel’s ongoing attack on Jenin, known as Operation Iron Wall. Layla Khateeb is the second child to be killed during this aggression.

According to her family, they were preparing to have dinner when Israeli sniper lasers appeared inside the house, and bullets were suddenly fired directly at them.

“There was gunfire, and the windows were breaking. When the girls heard the gunfire, they started running inside. Her [al-Khateeb’s] mother was feeding her [when] she got a bullet from the sniper in her head,” Layla’s grandmother said.

Sameeh Hazzaa said, “I don’t know how we survived. First, it was the drones, then bullets everywhere.”
Layla was killed by a bullet to the head. She was her mother’s only child, as her father had passed away when she was still an infant.
The girl’s pregnant mother was also lightly wounded in the attack.

The ongoing military operation in Jenin and its adjacent refugee camp has killed at least 14 Palestinians, according to the Health Ministry.
