Violence broke out in Amabeda village of Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district on Thursday after tensions over a disputed burial escalated, leaving several people injured and resulting in the torching of two churches and damage to multiple properties.
At least 22 people were killed and dozens more wounded as a suicide bomber attacked the packed Mar Elias Church in Dweil’a on the outskirts of Damascus, where worshippers were gathered for mass on Sunday.
Attacks on Christians have increased in different parts of the country. However, in Central India’s Chhattisgarh, particularly, there has been a massive campaign to brainwash young Hindu men into attacking the community for alleged “forced conversions.”
A Hindu mob associated with Bajrang Dal and included local leaders of Congress, BJP and BRS attacked Dalit Christians during their prayers at a church in Janwada village, Rangareddy district, Telangana on 13 February.
