Kerala based human rights group Janakeeya Manushyavakasa Prasthanam and family of C.P. Jaleel, a suspected Maoist who was shot dead at a private resort at Vythiri in Wayanad district on 6 March last year by Kerala police, staged a dharna in front of the Wayanad collectorate raising a slew of demands including a comprehensive probe by a government agency into the extrajudicial killing.

It is shocking to acknowledge that Kerala is going through a massive violation of human rights and values since the emergency. These narratives are undoubtedly pointing towards the state’s violent and intolerant approach towards the Maoists, which requires questioning.

National Confederation of Human Rights Organizations (NCHRO) has written a letter to National Human Rights Commission for a fair and impartial investigation regarding the extra judicial killing of Maoist leader A Velmurugan in Kerala’s Wayanad district earlier this week.

The Indian authorities should immediately order an independent, impartial investigation into the killings by security forces of three people in July 2020 in Jammu and Kashmir, Human Rights Watch said Saturday.

On October 29, the Kerala Police gunned down three Maoists near Agali in Kerala’s Palakkad district. They killed Manivasakam and Karthik from Tamil Nadu and Sreemati and Suresh from Karnataka

We may agree or disagree with the ideology those who have lost in this battlefields, but lets be clear they were not forest pirates but comrades who dared to hold a red-flag to fight the injustice prevailing in the society.
