More than 17 farmers were critically injured after Haryana Police used tear gas and water cannons on protesting farmers at Punjab-Haryana’s Shambhu Border on Saturday.
Bhartiya Kisan Parishad (BKP) in collaboration with other farmer groups, organised 'Delhi Chalo' march on Monday, with farmers from 20 districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, and Agra marching to the parliament complex demanding compensation and benefits under the new agricultural laws.
A arge group of laborers and farmers from different parts of the country gathered at Ramlila Maidan in New Delhi on Wednesday protesing the BJP-led Union government’s disregard of their basic needs and loss of livelihoods.
"This Budget is the govt's revenge on the struggling farmers and a call for the farmers to intensify the movement for MSP Guarantee Act," said an assessment by the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM).
Farmer bodies would be forced to resume their protest if the Union government does not fulfill the promises it had made in December, the Samyukt Kisan Morcha said on Monday.
