Opposition leaders, including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, NCP (SP)’s Supriya Sule, and Shiv Sena (UBT)’s Sanjay Raut, on Friday doubled down on their charges of “wrongdoing” during last year’s Maharashtra elections and said that the opposition has found several anomalies in the voter list.

Accusing the Election Commission of tampering with voter data in the recently concluded Maharashtra Assembly elections, Congress chief in Maharashtra, Nana Patole, on Thursday asked how voter turnout increased by 7.83 percentage points after the official polling time had ended.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, accompanied by his deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar, submitted his resignation as Chief Minister to Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan at Raj Bhavan, as the term of the current Assembly came to an end today.

As the counting of votes in the Maharashtra assembly elections progresses, the Mahayuti Alliance is on track for a landslide victory, defying predictions of a close contest. Early leads indicate a decisive mandate for the Mahayuti coalition, comprising the BJP, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction), and the Ajit Pawar-led Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

Counting of votes in the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly elections will begin at 8 am. It's the Mahayuti vs the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance in Maharashtra, while JMM and allies fight the NDA in Jharkhand.

Maharashtra witnessed record voter turnout at 66.05%, the highest since 1995, marking a nearly five percent increase over the 2019 election.
