Coronavirus: Global cases exceed 60 million

The global tally of coronavirus infections has surpassed 60 million, according to the Reuters data.

60,037,735 have been infected since the pandemic began and more than 1.4 million people are reported to have died.

According to the latter, the pace of new infections is accelerating and the United States is reporting its worst numbers of hospitalisations.

The United States has reported 1.5 million new cases in the last seven days, taking its total reported infections to over 12.5 millions and its death toll to 260,000.

India’s COVID-19 caseload went past 9.2 million with 44,376 new cases reported in a day, while the number of recoveries surged to 8.6 million, the health ministry said on Tuesday.
