Gaza: Death toll rises to 43, Israel continues bombing

Ministry of Health in Gaza on Wednesday said 43 Palestinians are killed, including 13 children and three women, in the ongoing Israeli aggression.

Over 300 wounded so far as Israel bomb Gaza for the second consecutive day, targetting civilian population.

An Israeli soldier has been killed after a military jeep stationed on the outskirts of northern Gaza Strip was targeted by the military wing of Hamas. Dozens of Israeli settlers have sustained injuries in Hamas attack.

In Gaza City’s Tel al-Hawa neighbourhood, a man, his pregnant wife and their five-year-old boy were killed by an Israeli attack on their home.

The West Bank has seen a large number of protests in solidarity with Jerusalem and Gaza in recent days, as well as some Palestinians shooting at Israeli forces in areas like Jenin.

On Tuesday, Israeli forces killed 16-year-old Rashid Muhammad Abu Arreh during a raid in Tubas, and Hussein Atiyyeh Titi, 26, during a raid in Fawwar refugee camp in the area of Hebron, according to the Middle East Eye.

The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) voiced concern at the escalation of violence between Israel and the Palestinians and said “crimes” may have been committed.

“I note with great concern the escalation of violence in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, as well as in and around Gaza, and the possible commission of crimes under the Rome Statute,” which was founded the ICC, Fatou Bensouda said on Twitter.

“My office will continue to monitor developments on the ground and will factor any matter that falls within its jurisdiction.”

Israeli air raids in the Gaza Strip have destroyed all police buildings in the coastal territory, according to Gaza’s Hamas-led Interior Ministry.

Hamas head Ismail Haniya on Tuesday said he had told mediators the problem is not with Gaza but with Israel, adding that the group Hamas is “ready” if Israel increases its attacks.

“If (Israel) wants to escalate, we are ready for it, and if it wants to stop, we’re also ready,” Haniya, who currently lives outside the Strip, said in a televised address.
