Gaza hospitals on brink of becoming “graveyards” as fuel crisis threatens lives

Gaza’s Al-Shifa Hospital and Al-Ahli Arab Hospital are within 24 hours of needing to cease operations due to a lack of fuel, says the health ministry in the besieged enclave as it faces ongoing genocidal war by the Israeli occupation.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said Al-Shifa was recently supplied with enough fuel to last three more days.

It called for a more enduring solution.

“Emergency measures and temporary solutions cannot ensure the continuity of healthcare services as the wounded and sick increasingly need intensive care,” it said.

“The fuel shortage crisis, which requires electricity to operate generators, continues to worsen to dangerous levels in the remaining functioning hospitals in the Gaza Strip,” it said.

The director of Gaza’s Health Ministry warned that hospitals could become “graveyards” in 48 hours if no fuel is provided to power crucial generators.
