Israeli airstrikes kill several people in Aleppo

Israeli airstrikes around the Syrian city of Aleppo killed several people early on June 3, SANA news agency reported.

According to the report, the attacks took place in the southeastern edge of Aleppo around 12:20 a.m. (2120 GMT on Sunday).

“The aggression led to a number of fatalities and some material losses,” the Syrian state-run media said.

As usual in the cases of attacks against Syria, Israel did not immediately acknowledge the strikes.

Israel launched air attacks on May 29 on Syria’s central region as well as the coastal city of Baniyas, killing a child and injuring ten civilians, according to Syrian state media.

Since the foundation of Israel in 1948, both the countries have been at war.

The fact that Syria’s President Bashar Assad has been backed by Iran adds to the conflict.

Tehran’s influence in Syria has grown since it began supporting President Bashar al-Assad in the civil war that started in 2011.

Israeli strikes previously have targeted Iranian positions and equipment.

Israel separately has been striking targets in Lebanon, the stronghold of Hezbollah, as well.

The strikes came while Israel continues its genocidal war in the Gaza Strip.
