Two Palestinian women have been killed by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank, official Palestinian media.

A 40-year-old Palestinian woman Ghada Ibrahim Sabatien was shot by Israeli forces near the city of Bethlehem, the Palestinian health ministry said on Sunday.

Sabatien died after she suffered a torn artery and massive blood loss. Sabatien was a widowed mother of six, the Palestinian news agency Wafa reported.

Prime Minister, Mohammed Shtayyeh, in a statement condemned the Israeli army killing of the Palestinian woman in Bethlehem. Shtayyeh held the Israeli government fully responsible for the consequences of this heinous crime.

The European Union expressed shock at the Israeli army’s killing. “Horrified by the killing of a Palestinian woman by ISF near Bethlehem. Our deepest condolences to her family. Such excessive use of lethal force against an unarmed civilian is unacceptable. This incidence must be swiftly investigated and the perpetrators be brought to justice,” said the EU in a tweet.

In the southern city of Hebron, another Palestinian woman was killed by Israeli forces.

Sources told WAFA that Israeli forces opened fire on the woman in the vicinity of al-Ibrahimi Mosque in Hebron, causing her critical injuries. Forces reportedly prevented the medical staff from reaching the area and left the woman on the ground bleeding to death.

She stabbed and lightly wounded an Israeli border police officer before she was killed, according to a statement by Israeli police.
