Isra Al Modallal’s family and daughter are in Gaza, where Israel is showering bomb. On 15 May, the day Palestinians commemorate the brutal ethnic cleansing as a result of installing the state of Israel in Palestinian land, Modallal speaks to Maktoob.
Isra al-Modallal was the first female spokesperson in English for the government in Gaza between 2013–2014. She was born in Egypt and raised in Gaza. She attended high school in Bradford, England, and graduated from Islamic University of Gaza with a degree in media studies. She worked as a broadcast journalist before accepting the spokesperson role.
