The United States deaths from COVID-19 have surpassed 150,000, a number higher than in any other country and nearly a quarter of the world’s total, according the Johns Hopkins University tracker.
According to a Reuters tally, of the 20 countries with the biggest outbreaks, the US ranks sixth in deaths per capita, at 4.5 fatalities per 10,000 people.
The other five countries are United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, Peru and Chile.
US deaths making up nearly 23% of the global total of just over 662,000.
Nearly 16.7 million people around the world have been diagnosed with the new coronavirus. Some 9.7 million patients have recovered, and more than 659,000 have died, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.
