Father Stan Swamy tests positive for COVID-19

The 84-year-old Jesuit priest and an under-trial prisoner in the Bhima Koregaon case, Father Stan Swamy, 84, tested COVID-19 positive at the Holy Family Hospital on Sunday.

He was shifted to the private hospital from Taloja Central Jail on May 29 after being directed by the Bombay High Court.

According to the relatives, Swamy’s blood pressure was dropping and he continued to feel weak.

The country’s one of the renowned activist Swamy is already suffering from Parkinsons, lower back pain, bilateral hearing loss among other ailments.

Swamy was arrested from Ranchi on October 9, 2020 and denied bail several times.
